SEARCH FOR THE LOST RAILWAY STATION- KADUGODI

It all started with Kung Fu Panda. Inner peace was the buzzword for people like us struggling in the corporate world. There was a distinctive urge to do something that wasn’t expected of us or something that nobody told us to do. And it had to be something that was not related to work. We were all craving for the village flavors. The chai pakode. The sight of sky from under a tree in crisp moonlight.
Destination- Kadugodi.
It isn’t a far off place to be considered a village, but for us anything that marked the end of a bus route would do. Rs. 25 was a kind of shock, and we realized that the bus stand isn’t far off. Anyways a Saturday evening trip in an orange colored VOLVO is not a bad idea. Childish pleasures never go away. A window seat even in a VOLVO!  . OK, now I wasn’t with a girl. They tend to take away your meditative powers and destroy attempts to find inner peace. I happened to remember passing through Kadugodi station on my way to Bangalore from Chennai, or might have been my mind making up names of stations. I was hoping for something like Platform 9 3/4. It didn’t matter much as none of us knew much about station names. Comfortable buses make me feel sleepy, and ipods do the rest. But the search of inner peace should not be spoiled by sleep, so took a hard decision not to overpowered by the best friend of laziness. By the time we reached Kadugodi, it was already dark. Time in such trips loose meaning. My watch is with a friend thousand miles away, giving me another reason not to think about time. Well, the bus station wasn’t at all impressive considering the fact that it marks the starting point of high end buses carrying thousands of engineers daily. But it did fit our picture of underdeveloped area away from the city. Railway track is just behind the bus stand, and yes no high end platforms- a relief. We found a very few people and it looked like a waste of money to build such a big platform. It matched our expectations. There was one tea stall, which we decided to skip for later. We crossed the platform, into Kadugodi, ending our search with omelette, coconut water and finally a calm evening watching the trains pass by sitting under a tree with a cup of tea in our hands!
P.S.- There was no Kadugodi station, and as per the overly friendly andawala(egg seller), "kadugodi koi station nahi hai…. Whitefield Tation… Whitefield."
